Anne Louise Meincke

Anne Louise Meincke is a skilled researcher, advocate, policy advisor and strategic partnerships manager with over 20 years of multi-sectoral experience. With a strong background in human rights and development, Louise has worked extensively on complex societal issues, particularly those affecting street children and youth.

Louise has brokered and managed large-scale projects and official partnerships with the UN Economic and Social Council, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, the UN Special Representative on Violence Against Children, the World Health Organization, UN-Habitat, DANIDA, the European Union, the Houses of Parliament, Aviva and HSBC.

Her key achievements include securing UN Resolution 16/12 on street children (2011), launching the International Day for Street Children (2012), the drafting and adoption of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child’s General Comment No. 21 on children in street situations (2017), implementing a €10million EU Horizon2020 research grant (2015-2019), and developing Plan International’s Urban Research Series (2020-2023). Louise also supported the adoption UN Resolution 47/8 on the Elimination of Harmful Practices Related to Accusations of Witchcraft and Ritual Attacks (2021) and the Pan-African Guidelines on Accusations of Witchcraft and Ritual Attacks (2023). Louise is a Working Committee member of the International Network Against Witchcraft Accusations and Ritual Attacks and was previously the Advocacy Director of the Witchcraft and Human Rights Information Network.

Louise is pursuing a Doctorate at the University of Dundee, UK, focusing on the experiences and expressions of violence growing up on the streets of African cities, where she is spearheading the analysis of large, longitudinal qualitative datasets. Louise is also a Guest Researcher at the University of Copenhagen’s Centre of African Studies.
